PROJECT EDEN - FINAL BUILD
- LEVEL 2 -
DATA VAULT

LEVEL STRUCTURE DIAGRAM

Level 2.png

NARRATIVE CONCEPT

Throughout her way down Ashleigh skips many floors, travelling directly to her specific target : the Data Vault.
The Data Vault is the centre of management and operations for the entirety of the facility.
It is the data management centre and a highly restricted area, where even the staff is kept under strict surveillance.
It is the residence of the the Data Vault, the data storage matrix that gives the name to the floor.

The Data Vault is a high-tech and complex technological marvel. It is the brain where all the most sensitive data and information of the highest level of clearence is stored.
The only physical point of access is its external operational console which stands sealed within multiple barriers.

Because Ashleigh has travelled deep within the facility, she now stands closer to the source of infection and the spread has taken a stronger hold over the staff and has had much longer to work its designs, twisting the once-humans into more abhorrent monstrosities.

LEVEL MISSION

Ashleigh has to gain access to the Data Vault console and, with the aid of her corporate employers patched through it, she has to retrieve the facility diagnostics regarding the outbreak and the incident.
To do so, she will have to carefully navigate the infested offices.

DESIGN CONCEPT

This level was designed, under the guidance of game design pillars and project specifications, to be a PRACTICE level and with the intent to :

- Provide the player with a new weapon and give the player the opportunity to practice with its use.

- Increase the degree of difficulty, pace and complexity of challenges and enermy encounters.

- Place the player in environments that offer even more ways of navigation, and offer the player challenges and enemy encounters that can be tackled with even more approaches than the previous level.

- RECEPTION LOBBY -

NARRATIVE CONCEPT
The reception lobby acts as a point of contact and control check between the tightly sealed offices and anyone else outside of them.

IN-GAME LOOK - R3-5
- OFFICES -

3.png

NARRATIVE CONCEPT
No other computer throughout the facility is directly connected to the Data Vault besides the computers within these offices.
They draw power and data stream directly form the Data Vault, and the staff working within performs operational duties of data management and control.
Those who work here are kept under strict surveillance and any transition in and out of these offices is strictly regulated.
Nothing can be found within these offices is not strictly related to the nature of the work they are meant for.

DESIGN & ENCOUNTER CONCEPT
These rooms-encounters were designed with the intent of offering a challenge were the player can experiment and practice multiple approaches and strategies to reach the mission’s goal, and to present an environment were the game challenges and enemy encounters could express new dynamics to the player.

IN-GAME LOOK - R6
- SECURITY -

5.png

NARRATIVE CONCEPT
This little room works as a security point where guards kept constant vigilance over anyone who might want or need to gain access to the Gold Room, the seat of the Data Vault.

- DATA VAULT -

9.png

NARRATIVE CONCEPT
The Data Vault is a virtually impenetrable vault to all the outside sources that might attempt to hack in.
All the corporate higher powers that run the facility manifest their presence on site within the vault, away even from the security awareness.
The Data Vault is equipped within an automated system similar to an artificial intelligence that manages and directs the facility streams of information and all data processing. It also creates a cloaking effect that renders the facility invisible to all outside networks.
The Data Vault is surrounded by a large empty space meant to aid the room temperature control systems.
All the surrounding surfaces are plated in a rare alloy that works perfectly in accordance to temperature regulation requirements.

DESIGN & ENCOUNTER CONCEPT
While the puzzle game elements within PROJECT EDEN have been taking a more ‘behind the scene” position in the game, throughout all the past challenges, this room-encounter was designed to present the puzzle game aspect of the game more vividly and to offer the player an element of surprise.
In this room-encounter the mixed design elements between action, shooter, survival, stealth and puzzle that compose the core gameplay are offered more apparently.
Furthermore, very much like R3-5, these room-encounter was designed with the intent of offering a challenge were the player can experiment and practice multiple approaches and strategies to reach the mission’s goal, and to present an environment were the game challenges and enemy encounters could express new dynamics to the player.

- MAINTENANCE CORRIDOR -

8.png

NARRATIVE CONCEPT
The maintenance corridors of the Gold Room grant direct access to all authorized technicians to the hardware of the Data Vault.
To support its technological and processing requirements, the Data Vault needs a vast network of auxiliary memory, supplementary systems and modular hardware to assist its operations.

DESIGN & ENCOUNTER CONCEPT
While the Maintenance Corridor serves as part of the experience and challenge of the Data Vault room, it also serves as an opportunity to bring within this level an element of the experiences and themes offered within the previous level.
