PROJECT EDEN - PROTOTYPE 1
ABOUT
This is the first prototype created for the development of PROJECT EDEN.
For the sake of this stage of development the game environment-level has been created and tailored with the following specific intents :
-Explore the type of lighting, environment structure and environment look that will best deliver the project profile and identity.
[ Environmental assets have been created within the engine via basic shapes and props, while a simple set of 2D textures was created via photoshop. ]
- Create situations and circumnstaces that will require the player to use the basic and foundamental game mechanics and systems
- Observe the efficiency of the enemy AI and the dynamics that emerge from the interactions between enemy AI and the player, framed by the structure of the environment
- Explore basic and foundational means of narrative delivery
LEVEL STRUCTURE DIAGRAM
LEVEL CONCEPT
This environment is supposed to simulate the first stage of the game narrative and be its first iteration, where Ashleigh, the game protagonist, has reached the facility but, due to a malfunction in its power supply, could not gain access through the main entrance that is now blocked.
Ashleigh then manages to inflitrate the facility by using an emergency exit that is connected to the cargo storage and warehouse of the facility. From there she would have to find a way to reinstate some degree of power distribution to open the cargo area and gain access to the innards of the facility.
It won’t take long before Ashleigh meets with the cause behind the facility’s lack of communication, and she will meet with the infected staff that now shambles throughout the cargo room.
Ashleigh has to enter the small control room where a security guard used to control who would come in and out through the utility corridor, given that it was a potential weakness in the facility defences and where would-be intruders could breach its security.
The control room however only provides enough power to open or seal the door of the utility corridor, another limitation to further aid the security of the facility.
On the way to the cargo room, there will be a small infirmery room that was once used to provide quick assistance to any small degree on-the-job injuries suffered by staff, matter of common occurrence for all due to the hazardous nature of cargo and warehouse maintenance.
Once within the Cargo Room, Ashleigh realizes that the cargo gate is sealed shut and there is no power to turn on the terminal that can give her access. She then has to reach the auxiliary generator room and re-activate the dormant machinery.
Once done she has to relive the security lock of the gate from the maintenance room. This will allow her to open the gate an enter the facility.
