ABOUT THE GAME :
The player takes the role of a Roman citizen attempting to escape his home and the district now attacked and consumed by fire.
The player has to find their way to the exit of the district while trying to survive the raging flames and the smothering smoke.
Along the way, as the player finds their way to advance toward the exit of the district, the player will encounter monuments and people that will reveal fragments of the story.
By the time the player will have reached the exit, the game will have delivered all the pieces of the tale of the events that occurrred during that fateful night.
ABOUT THE PRODUCTION :
The BURNING OF ROME is the product of a school project aimed to create a game driven by educational purposes.
Our team participated in a simulated interview with a fictional client who employed us to develop and tailor a game created to reach and educate a wide audience.
The general directives of the fictional brief from the client was to create a game that revolves around an event in history characterised by different sides and versions of the same story. The decision making process regarding which historical event to choose was left to the team.
The project was required to deliver an overview of the bigger picture behind the event, whilst also presenting its multiple perspectives.
The game has been developed in conjunction with the client’s feedback gathered from subsequent meetings.
All HUD images, menus images, and music used within the game have been borrowed from the internet.
Soundtrack borrowed from the game “Vampyr”, developed by Focus Home Interactive.
